Indian’s latest Scout brings sharper dynamics to its cruiser soul with a tasty and raucous V-twin.

With the heavy-hitting legacy of motorcycling royalty Herbert James Munro on its shoulders, Indian Motorcycle has refreshed its Scout range for 2025 with sharper engineering, modern rider-facing technology and clear segmentation across models. We had the chance to ride the Sport Scout for a few days, arguably the most aggressive and youthful of the lot. It does become clear that this bike offers a balance of performance and style suited for India’s premium cruiser market. With five distinct variations, Scout Classic, Scout Bobber, Sport Scout, Super Scout, and the high-performance 101 Scout, there is a Scout for heritage-focused purists to modern performance seekers.

Aggressive Stance, Yet Classy

Just look at it, the Sport Scout looks mean yet purposeful. Its quarter fairing, 19-inch front wheel and gloss black moto-style handlebars set the tone for more spirited riding. The sport-style seat with its higher back bolster provides support to your back to push harder while staying in the saddle.

These new ergonomics encourage an engaged posture that feels different from the relaxed stance of the Classic or the stripped-down minimalism of the Bobber. Whichever Scout you pick, you will absolutely enjoy looking at it. The colour options across the range are vivid.

Familiar Heart With A Sharper Edge

All the Scout models are powered by the 1,250cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine. The engine delivers 106 bhp, except for the top-spec 101 Scout, which makes 112 bhp. In the Sport Scout the pairing of the liquid-cooled V-twin with upgraded ergonomics and 19-inch front wheel makes for a machine that feels more alert and agile. Acceleration pins you in the seat, but is linear.

The V-twin provides ample low-end pull but comes alive at mid-range speeds. On city roads, the bike felt nimble enough despite its size, while on highways it cruised effortlessly. There is more than enough in reserve to make overtakes ballistic. And kudos to the thunderous sound that keeps following you.

Rides Great, Handles Easy

The highlight of the Sport Scout would be its balance between comfort and control. The suspension setup smoothens out smaller bumps and offers confidence when leaning into corners. And you can get some lean angles on this thing. The sports seat plays a crucial role here. The added foam and support helps the rider stay in control during aggressive launches or extended highway stints. The quarter fairing, though subtle in size, reduces wind fatigue at higher speeds making longer rides more comfortable.

Suspension travel has been increased to 76 mm for enhanced comfort and improved lean angles. This allows the Sport Scout to feel more capable when cornering compared to its siblings. In traffic, the bar-end mirrors and upright stance give good visibility, while the lightweight handling (considering the bike’s class) makes manoeuvring through congestion manageable. But despite its accessible seat height, shorter riders will feel a bit of a stretch both for arms and legs. Do not, we repeat, do not get stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic on this thing. The cramps will get you, before the engine heat can.

Features

Yes, it is 2025, so there have to be features. But not how you thought they would be. It’s the details on the Sport Scout that enhance usability and style. The machined triples, moto-style risers, and premium detailing ensure that even without aftermarket parts, the bike looks and feels custom-built. Riders also benefit from modern electronics, though the Scout family remains focused on maintaining an analogue feel rather than overloading the rider with unnecessary aids, thankfully. The horn button is downright stupid, considering it is an important tool. The headlights are excellent with good spread and throw. And for pete’s sake put a lock on the fuel filler, Indian.

Sport Scout Against Other Scouts

While the Sport Scout forms the core of our impressions, it sits within a wider family of five models with its unique personalities. The Scout Classic is the most heritage-focused, with chrome finishes, flared fenders and wire wheels. Ideal for riders who want timeless style.

Scout Bobber is the stripped-back, blacked-out choice, with slammed suspension and solo bobber seat for urban appeal. The Super Scout is the touring-friendly variant with saddlebags, windshield and pillion comfort, designed for longer journeys. While the 101 Scout is the performance flagship, boasting 112 bhp, Brembo brakes, inverted forks and piggyback shocks. It is the highest-performing Scout to date.

It is the attitude that defines the 2025 Indian Scout range. Every time you take them out for a ride is an event, putting you in the centre of the drama. And no, this is not a daily machine, you have to plan when and how you ride it, and park it. But the sheer presence that this thing has is worth the effort. The V-twin is very powerful indeed, making fuel consumption a concern. Yes, it drinks fuel, you will get 12-18 kmpl figures. But it’s like a sweet little Labrador, you keep feeding it. Overall, it is as close to Burt as you’ll ever get, and that alone is worth it.
