If you’ve ever hesitated to invest in a fancy matte paint finish or worried about keeping your car looking showroom-fresh, Nippon Paint might just have the answer you’re looking for. The company’s latest innovation—N-Shield Paint Protection Film (PPF)—is not only tough but also refreshingly easy to live with.

Covering More Than Just Paint

Nippon Paint’s car care journey doesn’t stop at protective paint films—it’s evolving into a complete detailing ecosystem, designed around customer expectations of durability, style, and peace of mind.

To begin with, the brand’s PPF line-up caters to varying needs and preferences. Those who love their car’s gloss finish can retain that showroom shine for years with the Pro Gloss series. But for buyers keen on a stealthy, matte look—without repainting their vehicle—there’s the Pro 10M, offering the same protection in a premium matte finish. For those seeking reliable, long-term protection, Nippon’s Advanced series offers 7-year durability in both gloss and matte variants. The most popular choice in India, though, is the 5G Crystalguard Lite—a 5-year PPF that doesn’t compromise on essentials like self-healing, UV protection, stain resistance, and anti-yellowing.

But personalisation is where Nippon raises the bar. Drawing from its expertise in colour technology, the company has introduced the Crystalguard Colour Range. Whether it’s a custom shade or a factory match, the company can reproduce nearly any colour in PPF form. Several fast-moving shades are stocked, but the offering is entirely customisable.

Beyond the body panels, the coating company is also expanding its portfolio with specialised films for sunroofs, windscreens, and headlamps. The headlamp film, in particular, is designed not just to protect but restore yellowed or dull lights, bringing them back to a glossy, like-new appearance. It’s already received OEM approvals, thanks to its ability to withstand heat from both inside and outside the lamp housing.

Recognising the importance of precision, the company has invested in plotter cutter machines that automatically cut PPF sheets to the exact panel size of any vehicle model—eliminating the need for manual blade work and reducing material waste. This is backed by NDesign, Nippon’s proprietary software that’s continuously updated with the latest car models and variants, ensuring quick turnaround and seamless installation.

For customers and professionals looking to go beyond PPF, it offers the Enshield ceramic coatings—available in two variants. The Graphene 10H coating offers up to five years of durability, while the 9H option lasts two. Both are super hydrophobic, ensuring water, dirt, and grime slide right off. Supporting this is a full detailing range, including polishes, waxes, tyre shines, dashboard and glass cleaners—making Nippon a one-stop solution provider for enthusiasts and detailing studios alike.

What truly sets the brand apart, however, is its approach to warranty transparency. Every roll of Nippon PPF carries a unique digital code, allowing customers to register their purchase online. This e-warranty can be tracked anytime, with claims supported directly by Nippon—removing ambiguity for customers and service providers.

In every layer—from protective films to paint-matched wraps, from smart software to transparent support—Nippon Paint is building a future where aesthetics and durability go hand-in-hand, and where the car you love can look and feel new for years to come.

Built For Real Life

Would the coating need specialised attention to maintain, is the question consumers have. However, Sharad Malhotra, President of Nippon Paint India said, Nippon’s PPF range is designed to work with everyday habits. “As long as you avoid harsh chemicals and use a clean microfiber cloth, you’re good,” he added. No need to return for re-coats or check-ups either—the film is made to last, with three durability options available: five, seven and ten years. A lifetime version is also in development, he mentioned.

In fact, Nippon put its film through a kind of 'abuse test'—installed on a vehicle in Noida, exposed to hard water and normal dusters. The result? It held up just fine. For customers, this means less stress and more confidence in the long-term value of their investment, he pointed out.

Easy To Apply, Even Easier To Repair

Minor scratches? No worries. The film has self-healing properties that can take care of small scuffs. In case of a dent or paint repair, only the damaged portion needs treatment. Thanks to Nippon’s paint-matching technology, even spot repairs look seamless. Just wait a couple of weeks post-repair for the paint to cure, and the film can be reapplied like nothing ever happened.

While some car enthusiasts may be tempted to DIY – do it yourself - paint touch-ups, Nippon strongly recommends professional spot repairs. It’s the only way to ensure a flawless finish before film reapplication.

Design, Personalisation, Protection

Nippon isn’t stopping at just clear film. The new launch includes a matte finish and even design concepts—think coloured stripes or unique visual patterns. These aren’t just add-ons; they’re part of a broader shift toward car customisation in India.

Until a few years ago, most Indian car owners would wait until their vehicles had a dozen dents before heading to the body shop. That mindset is changing fast. “Cars are getting more expensive, and people want them to look perfect. Today’s consumers are more informed, willing to invest, and keen to preserve that factory finish,” he mentioned.

Bigger Vision

Nippon’s entry into automotive films isn’t just a business move—it’s part of a global shift. From mobile screens to laptops, everything’s getting a film, and cars are no exception. The company sees this as a natural extension of its coatings business and a key to supporting sustainability goals. Less repainting means lower emissions, fewer volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and better longevity for the car’s original materials.

The product will be available across multiple touchpoints, including Mastercraft outlets where it is already on trial, OEM dealerships where it could be offered as a pre-delivery add-on, independent detailing studios that are part of a growing network, and dedicated End Shield Studios with trained applicators. For those applying the film, Nippon is also setting up a training academy in Gurgaon to maintain high quality and consistency across service points, he added.
