The Association of Indian Forging Industry (AIFI), the apex body for India’s forging sector, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at accelerating the adoption of energy-efficient technologies under the ADEETIE scheme.
The ADEETIE (Assistance for Deployment of Energy Efficient Technologies in Industrial Establishments) scheme, spearheaded by the Ministry of Power and implemented by BEE, is designed to support MSMEs across 14 energy-intensive sectors, including forging, by providing a comprehensive package of financial and technical support. This includes interest subvention on loans for technology upgrades, handholding through energy audits, project implementation guidance, and a dedicated project management unit and nodal banking partner to ensure smooth execution.
Highlighting the significance of the partnership, Yash Munot, President of AIFI, said, “Forging is one of the most energy-intensive industries. This collaboration with BEE opens new doors for MSMEs to adopt cutting-edge technologies, reducing operational costs and environmental impact. It aligns with our commitment to foster a globally competitive and responsible forging ecosystem.”
The scheme, with a total outlay of INR 1,000 crore, is expected to catalyse over INR 9,000 crore in investments, including INR 6,750 crore in MSME lending. Forging units stand to benefit from interest subvention rates of 5% for micro and small enterprises and 3% for medium enterprises—significantly lowering the financial barriers to adopting sustainable technologies.
Deven Doshi, Chairman – Government Interface, AIFI, added, “MSMEs often struggle to adopt modern technologies due to structural limitations. The ADEETIE scheme directly addresses these pain points with financial incentives and technical guidance. AIFI will play a pivotal role in ensuring the industry’s access and transition to cleaner production methods.”
AIFI will serve as a crucial liaison between the forging industry and the government, helping units access incentives and implement energy-efficient practices through structured support. The forging industry, which plays a key role in sectors such as automotive, defence, and capital goods, has long faced challenges due to high energy consumption.
Through this partnership, AIFI will promote the integration of the ADEETIE scheme across forging clusters nationwide, empowering enterprises with the tools and insights needed for sustainable and productive growth.
