Aptiv PLC, a global technology company enabling safer, greener, and more connected mobility, has announced the opening of its new Software, Advanced Safety & User Experience (AS&UX) Technical Center in Chennai, marking a major milestone in its India expansion.
Spanning over 34,000 square feet, the new facility is designed to support up to 500 engineers by 2026 and is equipped with advanced labs and testing infrastructure to accelerate innovation in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and safety-critical systems. The centre will focus on developing next-generation ADAS perception tools, in-cabin sensing, and software-defined infotainment platforms, while also contributing to Aptiv’s cloud-native architecture.
The centre was inaugurated by Javed Khan, Executive Vice President and President of Software, Advanced Safety and User Experience (AS&UX) at Aptiv, alongside R Velusamy, President, Automotive Business (Designate), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., and MD of Mahindra Electric Automobile Ltd.
Khan said, “This centre will strengthen our ability to localize AI/ML-powered ADAS and advanced interior sensing technologies for the Indian market, reflecting our confidence in India’s engineering talent and bringing us closer to our customers—so together, we can build a safer, smarter future here in India.”
This is Aptiv’s fourth technical centre in India, reinforcing its engineering footprint to serve the evolving needs of Indian OEMs. The facility also benefits from integration with Wind River’s hardware, software, and edge technologies, giving it the capability to deliver impactful, customer-focused solutions.
India is already a key hub for Aptiv, where the company employs over 13,000 people across eight manufacturing plants, four technical centres, and a tooling centre. This growing ecosystem supports Aptiv’s global mission to enable intelligent, software-defined systems across industries.
