Bentley has introduced a new titanium sports exhaust system developed in partnership with Akrapovic, now available as an optional extra for its fourth generation Continental GT, GT Convertible and Flying Spur models. Designed for both High Performance Hybrid and Ultra Performance Hybrid variants, the exhaust offers a more aggressive engine note while reducing vehicle weight by up to 10 kilogrammes. The system, which carries Akrapovic and Bentley branding, can be specified at the time of ordering or retrofitted through authorised Bentley retailers.
The titanium and super-alloy construction of the new exhaust has been developed for strength, heat resistance, and improved flow. The material choices also contribute to weight reduction, a goal seldom prioritised in Bentley's traditionally heavy luxury models. Akrapovic supplies the components from its own titanium foundry. The system’s matte finish has been sandblasted and coated for scratch resistance and long-term durability.

Acoustic tuning has been a central focus of the collaboration. The exhaust delivers a more pronounced and responsive engine sound that varies according to driving mode and engine load. In SPORT mode, bypass valves open within the rear silencers to produce a louder, raspier exhaust note under acceleration and sharper burbles during deceleration. While such sound enhancements have become standard across performance segments, Bentley’s version aims to maintain tonal refinement alongside increased character.
The sound profile has been tuned to suit both the V8’s power curve and the refinement expected of a Bentley. When driven with restraint, the exhaust remains subdued, but it transitions through a broader frequency range under load, delivering a more involving experience for the driver without compromising comfort for occupants.
This update aligns with Bentley’s strategy of offering modular performance enhancements for customers who value both exclusivity and driving engagement. However, the practical gains of the exhaust are relatively modest. The 10 kg reduction in weight is unlikely to significantly impact acceleration or fuel efficiency in vehicles that often weigh well over two tonnes. Instead, the appeal lies in the enhanced aural experience and the bespoke nature of the component.
The titanium exhaust will be available on all new orders of the Continental and Flying Spur lines, and Bentley has confirmed that it can also be fitted to existing fourth generation models.
