Billion Electric Mobility has announced that it has crossed 250 long-term electric truck contracts with enterprise clients across India towards zero tailpipe emission logistics. Unlike short-term pilots, these contracts represent long-duration commitments from major players in sectors like steel, e-commerce, FMCG, pharma, cement and automotive.
BillionE is active across South, West, and North India, with vehicles now operating in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Pune among others. The trucks deployed range from 12-tonne to 55-tonne gross vehicle weight, underlining the focus on medium- and heavy-duty operations rather than just last-mile delivery. This scale-up comes at a time when the government’s PM E-DRIVE scheme has for the first time introduced targeted support for electric trucks, offering incentives of up to INR 9.6 lakh per vehicle. With a national budget of INR 500 crore under the scheme, it is expected that up to 5,500 e-trucks could benefit.
The company’s fleet offerings also include bundled services covering charging infrastructure, route planning and fleet maintenance. This infrastructure support comes through CHARGE ZONE, a business entity that operates one of the country’s high-speed EV charging networks. Together, they are building charging capacity along key freight corridors like Mumbai–Delhi and Coimbatore–Visakhapatnam, focusing on high-volume, long-haul routes that need dependable energy access.
Sanjeev Kulkarni, CEO, BillionE, sees electric freight entering a more stable phase in India. The move away from limited-duration pilots to permanent contract-based fleets signals a stronger customer belief in electric vehicle uptime, cost-efficiency and operational stability. The company currently operates over 60 heavy-duty EV trucks, with a target of 250 vehicles by early 2026 and an ambitious long-term plan to reach 5,000 trucks by 2029.
