BMW Group India has achieved its highest-ever half-yearly sales performance in the first half of 2025, underlining its growing dominance in the Indian luxury vehicle segment.

BMW alone accounted for 7,477 units, while MINI contributed 297 units. Notably, the second quarter (April–June) registered the best-ever monthly sales figures, reinforcing the Group’s positive momentum.

Electric Vehicles Powering Growth

BMW Group India retained its lead in the luxury EV segment for the third consecutive year, selling 1,322 electric vehicles across BMW and MINI brands in H1 2025. Electric vehicles now contribute 18% to total BMW Group car sales in India. The BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase was the highest-selling EV, followed by the flagship BMW i7.

To support the growing EV ecosystem, the Group introduced a host of customer-friendly services including BMW Destination Charging, Smart E-Routing, Charging Concierge, complimentary Wallbox chargers, and open access to its nationwide fast-charging network. BMW currently offers six electric cars and two e-scooters in India, positioning itself as a pioneer in premium electric mobility.

Boom In Long Wheelbase Models

Long wheelbase BMW cars saw a 159% surge in sales in H1 2025, driven by models such as the BMW 3 Series, 5 Series, 7 Series, and iX1. These models now account for 47% of the Group’s overall car sales. The BMW 5 Series emerged as the top-selling sedan with nearly 20% contribution, while the 3 Series continued to dominate the Indian premium sedan market.

Luxury Class, SAV Performance

BMW’s Luxury Class vehicles—which include the BMW 7 Series, i7, X7, and XM—remain aspirational benchmarks. The 7 Series and i7 led their respective segments, and the X7 crossed the 5,000-unit sales mark since its launch.

Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs) recorded 17% growth in H1, increasing their contribution from 56% in Q1 to 59% in Q2. The X1 led both the brand’s SAV lineup and the premium compact SUV segment with over 30% share in sales, followed by the powerful X5.

MINI, BMW Motorrad

MINI delivered 297 units in H1 2025, with the Cooper S being the top-selling variant, posting a 60% increase over H1 2024. The Countryman E also maintained a strong position with a near-equal share in sales.

BMW Motorrad posted a solid performance with 2,569 motorcycles sold. The G 310 RR led the entry-level performance segment, while the 900 GS / GSA and 1300 GS / GSA topped adventure touring categories. In the super sports segment, the S 1000 RR remained the favourite.

RetailNext, Customer-Centric Innovation

BMW Group India continued to elevate its customer engagement with the rollout of Retail.NEXT, an immersive retail format blending luxury, digital tools, and personalised service. With an investment of INR 365.6 crore, the initiative will cover 56 facilities across 33 cities.

Smart Finance Driving Accessibility

BMW India Financial Services strengthened brand loyalty with its flexible and attractive ‘BMW Smart Finance’ offerings. These include low EMI options, assured buy-back, and easy upgrades, making luxury ownership more accessible and seamless for customers.

Vikram Pawah, President and CEO, BMW Group India, credited the success to strong demand across product segments, a clear focus on electric mobility, and a customer-centric approach. “Our commitment to performance, luxury, and sustainability has resonated deeply with Indian customers. With a phenomenal 234% growth in electric vehicle sales and an expanding EV portfolio, we have cemented our leadership in the luxury EV space. Our long wheelbase models and digital-first initiatives like RetailNext are redefining the customer experience.”

Its enhanced focus on innovation, sustainability, and customer delight continues to set new benchmarks in the Indian luxury automotive space.
