Citroen India has introduced a CNG retrofitment solution for its C3 hatchback, offering a practical and efficient alternative fuel option that aligns with the country’s shift towards greener transportation. With this move, the company enters the growing market of dual-fuel mobility while retaining the comfort and quality associated with its vehicles.

The retrofitment will be available for the C3’s 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol variants, Live, Feel, Feel(O), and Shine. It comes with a mileage claim of up to 28.1 km/kg and is backed by a 3-year or 100,000 km warranty that also covers key CNG components. The system is engineered to work without affecting boot space, and the spare wheel remains accessible, a practical design approach uncommon in most aftermarket conversions.

Citroen has taken care to adapt its suspension to accommodate the additional load from the CNG cylinder, offering reinforced springs, tuned shock absorbers, and an anti-roll bar. The fuel system includes a smartly integrated nozzle within the petrol filler area, allowing easy access during refuelling.

In terms of operation, Citroen’s CNG system allows seamless switching between petrol and CNG, reducing range anxiety while maintaining engine performance. The calibration has been managed at the factory level to ensure the engine performs efficiently across both fuels. With an estimated running cost of INR 2.66 per km, the CNG variant presents a strong case for cost-conscious urban users.
