Continental Group has announced that its automotive division will operate under a new identity: Aumovio. The rebranding, unveiled at Auto Shanghai 2025, marks as a major step for the company as it aims to position itself at the forefront of future mobility technologies. Scheduled to be listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by September 2025, Aumovio will serve as an independent company, focused on software-defined vehicles and advanced electronic solutions for global automotive manufacturers.
Aumovio will draw upon Continental’s long-standing market presence and engineering capabilities but with a renewed emphasis on agility, innovation and regional focus. Philipp von Hirschheydt, Executive Board Member of Continental and CEO of the automotive division, stated that the rebranding reflects both continuity and ambition. He described the company as “an adaptive automotive powerhouse” and highlighted the importance of combining global scale with local responsiveness.
Central to Aumovio’s strategy is its commitment to the Chinese market, where it has operated for over three decades. With approximately 10,000 employees and 14 percent of the company’s automotive revenue generated from China in the 2024 financial year, the region remains a strategic priority. According to internal projections and external research, China is expected to outpace global growth in automotive production over the next five years. In response, Aumovio is deepening its 'in the market for the market' approach, which focuses on developing and manufacturing locally to meet the distinct demands of Chinese automakers and consumers.
