The project is anticipated to produce 4.3 tonne of green hydrogen per day

Cummins

Global power solutions provider Cummins has announced that it will provide technology to build one of India's largest proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyser for Gas Authority Of India Ltd(GAIL) at Vijaipur, in Madhya Pradesh, India. The company will offer the technology in collaboration with the EPC player Tecnimont, the Indian subsidiary of Maire Tecnimont Group.

A press release from the company noted that the project is anticipated to produce 4.3 tonne of green hydrogen per day. It will leverage its proprietary PEM electrolysis technology to manufacture electrolysers for the GAIL project.

Ashwath Ram, MD, Cummins India, noted that the GAIL Green Hydrogen production project based on the company’s PEM Electrolyser technology is a first of its kind and will pave the way for many such projects in the future.

Interestingly, Cummins has supplied and commissioned more than 600 electrolysers worldwide, to date, with PEM and alkaline technologies.

These electrolysers operate in leading hydrogen use cases such as hydrogen refuelling stations, industrial applications, gas grids, and energy storage projects.

“Despite a challenging timeline, we are excited about the commencement of this project and strongly believe that decarbonisation is a growth opportunity for Cummins,” Ram added.
