Daimler Truck has announced the appointment of Raghavendra Vaidya as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO), effective June 1, 2025. Vaidya will join the Executive Team and take charge of the company’s global IT function, leading digital innovation and transformation efforts across the organisation. The successor to Vaidya at DTICI will be announced in due course.
Andreas Gorbach, Member of the Board of Management for Truck Technology, said, “We are excited to welcome Raghavendra Vaidya to our Executive Team. In his previous role, Raghavendra built and sharpened the Daimler Truck Innovation Center India (DTICI) in Bangalore into a critical pillar for engineering, IT, and central functions. His strategic vision and leadership will be vital as we move further into a data-driven future.”
Vaidya, who currently serves as Managing Director and CEO at DTICI, has been with the Daimler group since 2016, having earlier held the position of Senior Vice President – IT at Mercedes-Benz R&D India. With more than 25 years of experience in IT across industries, including key roles at General Electric, Vaidya brings deep expertise in technology leadership, operational excellence, and digital transformation.
An alumnus of R V College of Engineering, Bangalore, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s in Software Systems from BITS Pilani.
Vaidya’s appointment marks a pivotal moment in Daimler Truck’s digital journey as the company ramps up its focus on connected vehicles, cloud infrastructure, and intelligent operations. He takes over from Claesson, who led Daimler Truck’s global IT transformation post the spin-off from the former Daimler AG. Claesson was instrumental in establishing a standalone IT backbone and played a key role in scaling the company’s vehicle connectivity network to over one million vehicles worldwide.
“I would like to thank Marcus for his contribution in establishing our new IT set-up. He led significant transformational changes and advanced vehicle connectivity across our brands. We wish him continued success in his next chapter,” added Gorbach.
