DIMO, in collaboration with Japanese strategic partner Hakuhodo KEY3, has announced the launch of DIMO Japan—a new joint venture focused on accelerating connected vehicle infrastructure and partnerships with leading automakers in one of the world’s largest automotive markets.
By leveraging DIMO’s platform, automakers can directly manage user data, consent policies, and API access on their own infrastructure, addressing major bottlenecks in the deployment of real-time diagnostics, usage-based insurance, and location-driven digital services.
Ryo Hayashi, CEO of DIMO Japan, “Japan is a global automotive powerhouse, but scaling connectivity and enabling next-gen software services remains a major hurdle. Our focus is on empowering local automakers and partners to integrate with DIMO’s infrastructure, unlocking new business models and smarter experiences for drivers.”
DIMO’s expansion into Japan coincides with the rapidly growing software-defined vehicles (SDV) market, projected to cross $1 trillion by 2030. With Japan producing nearly 10% of the world’s vehicles, DIMO Japan is poised to play a key role in helping local players monetise connected features while ensuring data security and compliance.
DIMO Japan will also serve developers and service providers by lowering entry barriers for building smart city integrations, gamified experiences, and AI-powered in-car services. The DIMO network already connects over 180,000 vehicles globally.
