Elektrobit has signed a joint development agreement with Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn), one of the world’s largest electronics manufacturers, to co-develop EV.OS, a flexible, AI-centric software platform tailored for software-defined electric vehicles (SDVs).

The core components of the platform will include a standardised reference E/E architecture (EV.EEA), a non-differentiating EV operating system, and an EV application layer.

Once complete, EV.OS and EV.EEA will serve as the technological backbone of next-generation EVs. Powered by Elektrobit’s deep integration expertise, the platform will support high-performance and real-time ECUs, enable service-oriented architectures, and offer a semantic vehicle API to integrate third-party applications. The development process will be accelerated by a CI/CT/CD toolchain and supported by a Level 3 virtualised environment.

Maria Anhalt, CEO of Elektrobit, said, “Combining Elektrobit’s automotive software capabilities with Foxconn’s hardware innovation will allow us to build a scalable, future-proof platform that supports evolving mobility business models. This partnership marks a key step forward in the evolution of software-defined vehicles.”
