The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), the apex national body representing India’s automobile retail industry, has released electric vehicle (EV) retail data for June 2025, signalling continued momentum in the country’s shift towards sustainable mobility.
Commenting on the figures, FADA President C S Vigneshwar highlighted the transformative impact of the government’s PM eDrive Scheme in making EVs more accessible and affordable. “Electric mobility is gathering unprecedented momentum across all segments,” he said, adding that the initiative is not only driving demand but also enabling wider market penetration through infrastructure support and innovation.
In June 2025, electric two-wheelers (2Ws) accounted for 7.3% of total 2W sales, a notable rise from 5.8% in June 2024. The electric three-wheeler (3W) segment continued to dominate, contributing over 60% of total 3W sales, further strengthening its position in the last-mile mobility ecosystem. Passenger vehicle (PV) EVs registered a penetration rate of 4.4%, reflecting growing consumer trust in electric technology for personal mobility. Meanwhile, electric commercial vehicles (CVs) recorded a YoY doubling to 1.56%, underlining an evolving trend toward cleaner freight and passenger transport.
The report underscores a shift in consumer behaviour, increasingly favouring EVs due to economic and environmental considerations, as well as improvements in range, performance, and ecosystem readiness.
