TATA.ev has announced the inauguration of its first 10 MegaChargers, a new high-speed charging network designed to tackle long-standing concerns about EV infrastructure in India. Installed across key urban centres and highway corridors, the new chargers mark the company’s early steps in delivering on its promise to more than double the country’s EV charging points by 2027.
Developed in partnership with ChargeZone and Statiq, the MegaChargers offer a minimum output of 120 kW, with one flagship 400 kW station at Shreenath Food Hub in Vadodara capable of charging six vehicles simultaneously. This station alone can add around 150 km of driving range in just 15 minutes, signalling a focus on both charging speed and user convenience.
TATA.ev’s new infrastructure follows a strategic layout across highways such as Mumbai–Ahmedabad and Delhi–Jaipur. Each installation is paired with basic amenities—restaurants, restrooms, Wi-Fi, and even co-working spaces in some locations—improving the practical value of each stop. On the Delhi–Jaipur corridor, chargers are spaced every 60 km to reduce charging anxiety and support uninterrupted intercity mobility.
Urban installations, such as the one in Bengaluru’s Electronic City, are designed with daily commuters in mind, offering 24x7 services close to IT hubs and residential areas. A site in Udaipur, meanwhile, targets both tourists and locals with a 120 kW setup nestled within a resort offering lounge and hospitality access.
TATA.ev’s customers receive a 25% discount on charging tariffs at these locations and priority services, all accessible via the company’s iRA.ev app. The MegaChargers are also staffed at select sites, underlining an effort to improve usability for new EV users.
The company aims to install 500 such MegaChargers in the coming years.
