Indian Drone company Garuda Aerospace has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to offer services by using drones and UAVs in multipurpose operations.

Notably, the Department of Aerospace Engineering (DoAE) will support them in future operations, with the MoU being signed for two years.

A press release from Garuda Aerospace noted that to synergise efforts and seek optimum services for the benefit of all three parties, the companies have formed a tripartite to formalise the working under an MoU.

Additionally, collaborative operational and research projects in these areas may be taken up by Garuda Aerospace, DoAE and IISc, it added.

The company, meanwhile, will also focus on providing aerial imaging, agricultural drones and related field services.

Agnishwar Jayaprakash, Founder and CEO, Garuda Aerospace, said, “The association is a step towards realising the company’s potential to provide developments of digital input processing packaging tools including yield estimation from a given image, diagnoses of crops, surveillance and mapping of fields and lands with the recently launched Droni drone by MS Dhoni which will be used for surveillance.”

Dr SN Omkar, Chief Research Scientist Control and Guidance, IISc, said, “This partnership will facilitate the collaborative development of new technology related to surveillance applications using drones that will benefit the farmers, the Government and the country as a whole. IISc will provide a central cloud platform for storage of data.”
