GNCAP Bestows Mahindra XUV700 With The ‘Safer Choice’ Award

The SUV achieved a five-star Global NCAP rating for adult occupant protection and four stars for child occupant protection.

Homegrown automaker Mahindra & Mahindra announced that its flagship, XUV700 received the Global NCAP ‘Safer Choice’ award for being the safest car in India. The award is only available to automakers achieving high levels of safety performance.

The SUV achieved a five-star Global NCAP rating for adult occupant protection and four stars for child occupant protection. 

The flagship vehicle from the brand comes equipped with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), including Forward Collision Warning, and Autonomous Emergency Brakes using both camera and radar. In addition, the ADAS system also features Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Smart Pilot Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition and High Beam Assist.

Additionally, it also gets Driver Drowsiness Detection, Auto Booster Headlamp, Personalised Safety Alert and seven airbags, including curtain airbags (extending up to third-row occupants), driver knee airbags, driver side airbag and passenger-side airbag.

Apart from that, XUV700 comes with a driver seat-belt lap pre-tensioner in addition to a standard seat-belt retractor pre-tensioner for driver and co-driver. Anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake distribution (EBD) is standard.

Earlier in January 2020, the XUV300 also achieved a five-star GNCAP crash test rating making it the first product from the company to get the accolade. Later in November that year, the Thar also received a four-star rating from the global automotive safety watchdog.
