Gogoro Enters India, Starts Pilot With Zypp Electric

The battery swap pilot is focused on last-mile delivery fleets, and the findings from this pilot project will pave the way for the company to scale its operations

Gogoro has announced a strategic B2B initiative by partnering with Zypp Electric to accelerate the urban shift of logistics fleets and last-mile deliveries to electric using battery swapping.

The B2B pilot, to be launched in December 2022, will include Gogoro Network GoStations, Gogoro Smart Batteries, and Gogoro Smart scooters. Focused on last-mile delivery fleets, the findings from this pilot project will pave the way for the company to scale its operations in India, noted Horace Luke, Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of Gogoro.

Akash Gupta, CEO and Co-founder of Zypp Electric, added, 'We expect this partnership to set an example for a network of battery swapping stations and EVs which will create a robust EV ecosystem towards solving the last mile problem efficiently across the country.'

Taiwan-based Gogoro claims to have carried out over 350 million battery swaps till date using its global network. The company is also a partner of several OEMs, including Hero MotoCorp and, Yamaha, Suzuki.

Kaushik Burman, General Manager for India, Gogoro, noted that the company is a founding member of the Indian battery swapping Association (IBSA), and 'we are collaborating with multiple industry partners and regulatory authorities to contribute to a better India.'The company further noted that it is securing all relevant certifications for its batteries and battery swapping stations.
