BMW Group India has announced the appointment of Hardeep Singh Brar as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 September 2025. Brar succeeds Vikram Pawah, who will take over as CEO of BMW Group Australia and New Zealand.
Jean-Philippe Parain, Senior Vice President, Region Asia-Pacific, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa, BMW Group, acknowledged India’s pivotal role in the brand’s global roadmap. “India is among the fastest-growing markets for BMW Group. Hardeep Singh Brar brings deep expertise and a nuanced understanding of the Indian auto landscape to lead our strategic evolution in this dynamic market,” he said. Parain also thanked Pawah for his outstanding contribution to the brand’s growth in India and the region.
Brar’s professional journey has included key roles at Maruti Suzuki, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, General Motors, Nissan Motor, and Great Wall Motor Company. A mechanical engineering graduate from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Punjab, Brar has also completed Harvard Business School’s Senior Executive Leadership Program.
Pawah, who joined BMW Group in 2017, has been instrumental in strengthening BMW’s India operations, accelerating growth in new segments, and leading its transformation in digitalisation, electrification, and customer experience. His dual stint in India and Australia reflects BMW Group’s confidence in his leadership capabilities.
BMW Group India operates in the premium segment through BMW, MINI, and Motorrad brands. Since starting operations in 2007, the company has built a comprehensive ecosystem that includes a manufacturing plant in Chennai, a regional parts centre in Pune, a training facility in Gurugram, and a network of over 80 touchpoints nationwide. BMW Group Plant Chennai locally manufactures 10 models, and MINI has carved a niche in the premium compact car market since 2012. BMW Motorrad, the two-wheeler division, officially commenced Indian operations in 2017.
