Hero MotoCorp will be launching its first electric scooter before October 10, 2022, in India. To be launched under the Vida brand, this electric scooter might be priced under INR 110,000.

Originally, the first electric scooter from the largest two-wheeler manufacturer was slated for launch in March 2022. The company had postponed the launch to July 2022, and now the plan is to launch the electric scooter in October 2022.

Several reports indicate that Hero MotoCorp will try to position its upcoming Vida Electric Scooter as a mass market product. The scooter may directly compete with Ola Electric S1, TVS iQube and Ather 450X, among others.

According to the figures sourced from Vahan Portal, Hero Electric, in August 2022, maintained its lead in two-wheeler electric vehicle sales, selling 10,213 units against 8,786 it had sold in July 2022, representing a 16.24% MoM increase.

Okinawa has also maintained its leadership in the top five electric scooter OEMs as the company sold 8,245 electric scooters in August 2022 against the 8,098 units in July 2022, with a marginal growth of 1.82% MoM.

Hero MotoCorp has recently won a legal case to use the 'Hero' word for its upcoming electric scooter launches. It is worth adding here that the company is headed by Pawan Munjal, whereas Hero Electric is headed by his cousin Vijay Munjal and his son Naveen Munjal.
