In a significant boost to India–Philippines economic ties, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., during his ongoing bilateral visit to India, met with the Hinduja Group delegation led by Shom Hinduja to discuss new investment opportunities. The discussions centred on expanding the Group’s footprint in key sectors including Defence, Energy, Automotive, and Digital Technology, with a particular focus on Electric Vehicles and related infrastructure.
Shom Hinduja, President – Alternative Energy & Sustainability, Hinduja Group, and Board Member, Gulf Oil Lubricants and Ashok Leyland, said, “President Marcos Jr. passionately outlined the pro-investment environment in the Philippines, presenting opportunities in Defence, Digital Technology, Energy, and Automotive. We shared details on the first batch of 50 light commercial vehicles locally assembled and delivered in the Philippines by Ashok Leyland. We also discussed expanding Electric Vehicle offerings from Switch Mobility and charging infrastructure via Gulf Oil.”
Reinforcing its long-term commitment, Hinduja Global Solutions (HGS) signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the Philippine Government to significantly expand its local business operations. HGS, which began operations in the country in 2003, currently employs over 3,500 people across Manila NCR, Iloilo, and Cebu, providing customer experience and business process optimisation services to global clients. The planned expansion will increase its CX, BPO, and AI-driven solutions footprint, leveraging the Philippines’ skilled talent pool and strong digital infrastructure.
The Hinduja Group already has a well-established presence in the country through Gulf Oil Philippines Inc. (GOPi), a joint venture with the Philippine National Oil Company since 1998. GOPi operates a modern manufacturing facility producing Gulf-branded lubricants approved by leading global engine manufacturers.
With the new investment roadmap, the Group aims to deepen its strategic engagement with the Philippines, positioning the country as a key growth hub in its global operations.
