Jaipur-based electric vehicle OEM Hop Electric will be launching its first electric motorcycle on September 2, 2022, in India. The company has been conducting test rides of the Hop Oxo for a while now.

A teaser shared by the company has confirmed that the launch of Hop Oxo will take place at an event in Delhi, NCR. Hop has already released the complete look of the Oxo electric motorcycle in the past.

Once launched, this latest electric motorcycle will not only compete against the launch of the Revolt electric motorcycle but will also be positioned to compete against the likes of Hero Splendor and other entry-level petrol-powered motorcycles in India. The company has not officially announced the price of the motorcycle, but it will be crucial for it to keep an economical price tag on its first electric bike if it has to compete against the likes of popular entry-level motorcycles in India.

The company aims to retail over 50,000 electric vehicles (EVs) during the next 12 months, Rajneesh Singh, Chief Marketing Officer, HOP Electric Mobility, noted earlier. He said, 'We did anticipate demand, but clocking 5,000 bookings from our dealer partners for Hop Oxo even before the commercial launch is overwhelming, to say the least. For now, we have put the next booking window for dealer partners on hold as retail bookings will open soon.'

Hop claims that OXO has completed 100,000 km of road testing across 14 Indian States. The upcoming electric motorcycle had received a green flag from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) in June 2022.

Also, a part of the Government of India's Production Linked Scheme (PLI) for the automobile and auto component industry under the New Non-Automotive Investor (OEM) category, Hop Electric's portfolio of electric vehicles includes Hop Leo and Hop Lyf electric scooters. Hop Oxo will be the OEMs third EV in India.
