Hyundai Launches Grand i10 Nios With RDE, E20 Compliant Engines

Hyundai Motor India on Friday launched the updated Grand i10 Nios at a starting price of INR 5.68 lakh, ex-showroom, India for the base Era variant. 

Collectively, the brand i10 has sold over two million units since its launch in 2007. The Grand i10 Nios in particular has been sold over three lakh units in the last three years, of which one lakh were sold in CY22, said Tarun Garg, COO, HMIL. 

Amit Dhaundiyal, General Manager, HMIL said the Grand i10 Nios holds 19% share in HMIL’s sales and 31% market share in its segment.

The hatchback has been updated keeping in mind the upcoming RDE norms, starting April 1, 2023. Besides meeting RDE norms, the 1.2 L Kappa petrol engine is also compliant with E20 fuel, and produces 83 PS of power and 113.8 Nm of torque. The vehicle has two transmission options – a five-speed manual and an AMT – and claims fuel efficiency figures of 20.7 kmpl for MT variants and 20.1 kmpl for AT variants.

The CNG variant, meanwhile, offers a fuel efficiency of 27.3 kmpg. In 2022, the company claimed to sell 5,000 units of the Grand i10 Nios CNG variant.

Besides the updated engine, the hatch has also been updated on the styling front. The fascia of the hatch has been redesigned with a triangular LED DRL along with refreshed bumper design, while at the rear it gets a connecting LED taillight. The 15-inch alloy rims have also been redesigned.

Targeted towards customers between the age group of 25 years to 35 years, it gets an 8-inch touchscreen display audio with smartphone navigation and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, wireless phone charger, smart key with push button start/ stop, Full Automatic Temperature Control (FATC), voice recognition, footwell lighting and rear AC vents, to name a few.

On the safety front, the vehicle comes with four airbags as standard along with Electronic Stability Control, Vehicle Stability Management, Hill Start Assist Control and parking assist with rear parking sensors and rear camera with display on audio. Underneath, the car has also been reinforced with high strength steel for better protection.
