iGowise and Patnaik Energy Group have announced a strategic partnership to launch 5,000 portable electric vehicle power banks in India, supported by $1 million in seed funding. The rollout begins in Hyderabad and Bangalore, aiming to bridge critical gaps in India’s EV charging ecosystem by providing mobile, app-enabled energy access where conventional infrastructure remains limited or unreliable.

The portable power banks are designed to serve not just urban EV owners but also logistics operators, remote drone users, researchers, and those in off-grid locations. The solution caters particularly to users of fixed-battery EVs, where battery swapping is not an option, and charging facilities may not be nearby. The banks will also support other electric equipment in challenging environments, including agricultural machinery and wilderness lighting.

These mobile energy units are expected to be deployed across high-rise residential societies, commercial zones, and difficult-to-reach areas, including campsites and research stations. With a combination of pay-per-use and lease models, the initiative presents a flexible approach to Energy-as-a-Service. The power banks are designed to be wheeled, compact, and mountable on EV trikes such as iGowise’s own smart tilting models, which offer the payload capacity and manoeuvrability to distribute them across urban landscapes.

The units are based on lithium chemistries like LFP, LMFP, and LTO, known for thermal stability and long life. They are compliant with AIS-156 safety norms and include AI-based battery management systems, along with cooling and ventilation mechanisms for high ambient conditions. This is crucial in a country where ambient temperatures can exceed 45°C during peak summer.

Users will be able to access the portable banks via mobile apps or on-site QR-based scan-and-use interfaces. The system supports multi-brand EV compatibility and promises fast DC charging where applicable. Importantly, this addresses one of the sector’s long-standing problems—how to serve a fragmented EV market where battery formats are not standardised.

Sravan Kumar, CEO of iGowise, described the initiative as a contextual solution tailored for Indian mobility. According to him, it aims not just at convenience but also at operational efficiency, allowing delivery services and fleet operators to reduce downtime. Meanwhile, Sambit Patnaik, founder of RapidE Power and Patnaik Energy Group, emphasised the project’s relevance for segments like drone management and adventure logistics, which require mobile power sources outside conventional grids.

Over the next year, the partnership will deploy 1,000 units in Hyderabad and Bangalore, with 4,000 more to follow over 24 months. Global expansion is already on the roadmap, with planned collaborations with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), third-party logistics companies, and international partners.
