Jet 2.0 Gets Nod From DGCA To Start Commercial Operations

The carrier performed two proving flights between May 15 and May 17. It plans to re-start its operations within September 2022 with a total of six single-aisle aircraft and an all-female cabin crew.

The Jalan-Kalrock consortium owned Jet Airways on Friday announced that it has been re-issued by DGCA to perform commercial operations.

This comes in after the carrier performed two proving flights between May 15 and May 17 with aviation regulator officials onboard.

It plans to re-start its operations within September 2022 with a total of six single-aisle aircraft and an all-female cabin crew.

Sanjiv Kapoor, CEO, Jet Airways, said, “The ‘Joy Of Flying’ was a tag lione for Jet Airways in an earlier era. We are delighted to announce that The Joy Is Coming Back!”The release added that the airlines will reveal the aircraft and fleet plan, network, product and customer value proposition, loyalty programmes, and other details in a phased manner.The airline said that senior management appointments will be revealed soon and hiring for operational roles will also commence at the earliest, with former Jet Airways staff getting preference. 

After ceasing its operations in April 2019, the airline's Committee of Creditors (CoC) adopted the resolution plan proposed by a consortium led by the UK's Kalrock Capital and UAE-based entrepreneur Murari Lal Jalan in October 2020.
