JK Tyre & Industries Ltd has begun production of the UX Royale Green, India’s first passenger car tyre manufactured using ISCC Plus certified sustainable materials. Produced at the company’s Chennai facility, this development marks a significant milestone for JK Tyre.
The UX Royale Green has been in development since August 2023 and is the result of over a decade of research at JK Tyre’s Global Tech Centre. The tyre is made from 80 percent sustainable materials, including bio-attributed polymers, renewable oils, recycled rubber powder, recovered carbon black, recycled polyester, and steel wire. These materials have been sourced in line with ISCC Plus standards, ensuring traceability and adherence to circular economy principles.
ISCC Plus, or International Sustainability and Carbon Certification, is a globally recognised framework that confirms the use of renewable and recycled inputs through verified supply chains. JK Tyre’s adherence to this framework signals a shift in the company’s long-standing approach to tyre development, focusing not just on safety and performance but also on environmental responsibility.
Dr Raghupati Singhania, Chairman and Managing Director, stated that the tyre reflects a deliberate effort to align innovation with ecological responsibility. This initiative is also part of JK Tyre’s broader commitment to developing low-impact products without compromising quality or performance.
