Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has officially launched the New Defender OCTA in India, introducing what it calls the toughest, most capable, and most luxurious Defender ever created. The bookings will be opened soon.
Positioned as the most dynamic Defender to date, the OCTA is powered by a 4.4-litre Twin Turbo mild-hybrid V8 engine producing 467 kW and 750 Nm of torque, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.0 seconds. Designed for extreme versatility, the OCTA features a raised ride height of 28 mm, widened stance of 68 mm, and enhanced underbody protection, enabling it to tackle the most technical terrains—including wading through up to 1 metre of water, the deepest capability ever in a Defender.
A standout feature of the new Defender OCTA is the introduction of OCTA Mode—the first performance-focused off-road driving mode in a Defender. OCTA Mode enhances traction, braking, and acceleration on loose surfaces, and includes features like Off-Road Launch, a unique Off-Road ABS calibration, and dynamic interior lighting and sound elements for an immersive drive.
The OCTA debuts with 33-inch tyres, the largest ever on a production Defender, and is equipped with 400 mm front brake discs with Brembo callipers, delivering maximum control and stopping power. 6D Dynamics suspension, a hydraulically interlinked system, ensures the vehicle remains flat and composed regardless of terrain, enhancing both off-road capability and on-road performance.
Design elements like extended wheel arches, new grille designs, a four-exit active exhaust, and tough underbody protection reflect its bold stance. Customers can choose from a range of exclusive new colours including Faroe Green and Petra Copper, along with Carpathian Grey and Charente Grey, all offered with a contrast Narvik Black roof and tailgate.
Inside, the Defender OCTA features Performance Seats with enhanced bolstering and integrated headrests, upholstered in Ultrafabrics PU, a sustainable alternative to leather. The Edition One variant features a Khaki and Ebony interior, exclusive Faroe Green paint, and Chopped Carbon Fibre detailing.
Adding to the immersive experience, the OCTA introduces Body and Soul Seat technology, which uses seat-integrated transducers and AI software to transform music into a multi-sensory audio experience.
Commenting on the launch, Rajan Amba, Managing Director, JLR India, said, “Defender has redefined luxury adventure in India, and with the OCTA, we are pushing boundaries further. It combines unmatched ruggedness with elevated sophistication, offering a truly premium driving experience for those who seek adventure without compromise.”
