Kawasaki has announced a global recall for select units of the 2024 and 2025 Ninja ZX-6R due to a potentially serious engine defect. The issue stems from crankshaft bolts that may have been over-torqued during assembly, leading to reduced oil clearance around the crankshaft bearing. This can result in bearing failure and, in extreme cases, cause the engine to seize without warning.

The recall affects a wide range of ZX-6R variants, including the KRT Edition and the 40th Anniversary model. Approximately 17,800 units have been recalled in the U.S. alone, with similar actions underway in Europe and the UK. Owners in the U.S. have been specifically advised not to ride their motorcycles until a certified dealer inspects and rectifies the issue. Dealerships will verify bolt torque levels and replace components if required, free of charge.

While the company has taken action in several international markets, there is currently no official confirmation on whether the Ninja ZX-6R will be recalled in India.
