Kazam has entered into a strategic partnership with Yuma Energy, a joint venture between Magna International and Yulu Bikes. The collaboration will see the integration of Yuma’s battery-swapping technology into Kazam’s Park & Charge (P&C) hubs across India, offering a new level of convenience for commercial EV drivers, especially those operating in the last-mile delivery sector.

The first rollout of this partnership has already taken place at Mahadevapura Park & Charge in Bangalore, with more hubs expected to follow soon. With this move, drivers using Yuma’s partner electric vehicle brands can now swap out discharged batteries for fully charged ones at Kazam hubs, minimising downtime and extending daily operational hours. For sectors like e-commerce and goods delivery, where time and efficiency are critical, the facility to change batteries in under a minute can offer a major operational advantage.

Kazam currently operates 60 Park & Charge hubs across 10 Indian states, servicing nearly 3000 vehicles per day. The company also manages an additional 200 hubs through partnerships with clients such as Zypp and BigBasket in over 80 cities. These locations primarily cater to two- and three-wheelers, the backbone of India’s urban logistics network. Kazam’s Park & Charge model, introduced in 2023, includes not just charging infrastructure but also rest areas for delivery workers, providing support that extends beyond basic energy needs. To date, these hubs have supplied over 1 GWh of energy and helped enable more than 22 million kilometres of low-emission travel.

Yuma Energy brings to the partnership its expertise in Battery-as-a-Service, running a network with a 99 percent uptime and an average swap time of less than one minute. It has completed over 20 million swaps and helped power over 800 million kilometres of electric travel in India. Yuma’s focus on data-driven operations ensures high reliability and efficiency, making it a key partner for Kazam in scaling up infrastructure.
