Kia India is set to unveil its first locally manufactured electric vehicle, the Carens Clavis EV, on 15 July. This upcoming model will also be the country’s first three-row EV in the mainstream segment, aiming to combine spaciousness with electric efficiency in a value-oriented package.
The Carens Clavis EV is expected to mirror the powertrain and features of the upcoming Hyundai Creta Electric, with two battery pack options—42kWh and 51.5kWh—offering estimated ranges of 390km and 473km, respectively. The corresponding electric motors are expected to deliver 133bhp and 169bhp.
Kia is likely to equip the model with high-end features including dual digital displays, dual-zone climate control with rear vents, full LED lighting, Level 2 ADAS, connected car features, boss mode for the front passenger seat, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) functionalities.
This debut is a pivotal moment in Kia’s India EV journey, as it takes on rivals like the MG ZS EV, Maruti e Vitara, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE6, and Hyundai Creta Electric. A price announcement is expected in August.
