Kia India has achieved a new production milestone with the rollout of its 1.5 millionth vehicle from the Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh. The company, which began Indian operations in 2019, is now the fastest and youngest automaker in the country to reach this figure. The landmark vehicle was the Carens, a family MPV that has gained steady traction in domestic and export markets. To build on this momentum, Kia has also announced the updated version of the Carens, slated for launch on 8 May 2025.

Since entering the Indian market with the launch of the Seltos, Kia has expanded its model line-up to suit different market segments. The Anantapur manufacturing plant, covering 536 acres, plays a central role in this expansion and has become an export hub for over 90 countries. Out of the total 1.5 million vehicles produced, the Seltos remains the most manufactured with over 700,000 units, accounting for almost 47% of total output. The Sonet follows with around 34.6%, while the Carens contributes 16.1%, reflecting the carmaker’s focus on compact SUVs and MPVs. Newer models such as the Syros and Carnival make up smaller shares of production.

This production achievement reaffirms Kia’s long-term investment in India and its commitment to local manufacturing. The Anantapur facility, which integrates advanced automation and quality controls, supports Kia’s global supply chain while meeting domestic demands. Gwanggu Lee, Managing Director and CEO, Kia India, stated the milestone was a collective achievement of the company and its partners, crediting the success to customer support and manufacturing consistency.
