Kia India has announced that its recently launched SUV, the Kia Syros, has achieved a 5-star safety rating under the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP). The vehicle scored 30.21 out of 32 in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 44.42 out of 49 in Child Occupant Protection (COP), placing it among the safest models in its segment. These results were obtained after the vehicle underwent a series of crash tests, including frontal offset, side impact, and pole side impact assessments.
The Syros comes equipped with over 20 active and passive safety features, including six airbags as standard, and more than 16 autonomous safety functions integrated under Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Level 2. These include forward collision warning, lane keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. It also incorporates Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) as part of the standard safety package. By offering this extensive suite of safety technologies across the board, Kia is making a clear statement that safety is no longer just a premium feature but a fundamental requirement
The Syros was tested under strict parameters as per BNCAP norms, which are modelled on global testing standards. The Offset Deformable Barrier frontal test was conducted at 63.95 kmph, the side impact test at 50.17 kmph, and the pole impact test at 29.17 kmph. These tests simulate real-world collisions to evaluate how well the vehicle can protect its occupants. The Syros performed well in all scenarios, maintaining the integrity of the passenger cabin and minimising injury risks.
