Kinetic Engineering Limited (KEL), one of India’s most iconic names in automotive innovation, has taken a decisive step towards electrification by officially licensing its brand to its EV-focused subsidiary, Kinetic Watts and Volts Ltd. (KWV).

KWV, incorporated in September 2022, was formed to explore electric vehicle opportunities and is now on the cusp of announcing its product rollout strategy, partnerships, and go-to-market plans. With an initial capital infusion of INR 42.83 crore and an additional INR 29 crore investment on the anvil, KEL and other promoters will collectively invest INR 71.83 crore, giving KEL an 80% stake in KWV.

Under the brand licensing agreement, KWV will hold non-exclusive rights to the Kinetic name and trademarks for its EV ventures for an initial period of three years. The licensing may be extended based on future strategic alignment and growth into new domestic and international markets.

KEL continues to play a vital role in India’s EV supply chain as a major component supplier, manufacturing gearboxes, axles, and chassis. Simultaneously, the Kinetic Group has broadened its clean mobility footprint with the launch of its battery venture under the “Range X” brand.

Ajinkya Firodia, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of KEL, said, “The Kinetic brand has been a symbol of innovation, trust, and progress for over five decades. As we step into the electric era, we are excited to see Kinetic Watts and Volts carry this proud legacy forward. This license is not just a business arrangement—it’s the handover of a rich heritage into capable hands, committed to shaping the future of mobility.”
