After steering Renault Group through a remarkable five-year turnaround, Chief Executive Officer Luca de Meo has announced his decision to step down and explore new opportunities outside the automotive sector.
The announcement was made following a meeting of the Board of Directors, chaired by Jean-Dominique Senard, which expressed deep gratitude for de Meo’s contributions. Credited with restoring Renault’s financial health, revitalising its product portfolio, and positioning the company for future growth, de Meo’s leadership has been widely praised as a pivotal force behind the company’s transformation strategy known as 'Renaulution'.
The Board confirmed that the search for a new CEO is underway, aligned with a pre-established succession plan, and reiterated its confidence in the strength and continuity of Renault Group’s experienced management team.
Reflecting on his tenure, de Meo stated, “There comes a time when one knows the job is done. We faced immense challenges in just five years—and achieved what many thought impossible. The company is now strong, agile, and future-ready.” He added that it was a privilege to lead Renault Group through what he called a “once-in-a-lifetime industrial and human adventure.”
Jean-Dominique Senard acknowledged de Meo’s legacy, calling him a “creative, passionate and inspiring leader” and thanked him for his role in restoring pride and purpose within Renault. “Under his leadership, our company has returned to solid ground, with a renewed product range and regained growth momentum,” Senard noted.
