Maruti Suzuki India Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade to help build deeper engagement with technology-driven startups in the mobility and automobile manufacturing sectors. The partnership comes under the broader Startup India initiative and will offer selected startups a chance to work closely with India’s largest car manufacturer in refining and scaling their ideas.

The collaboration is intended to offer more than just exposure. Startups recognised by DPIIT will be able to participate in Maruti Suzuki’s existing innovation programmes, where they will receive structured mentorship, guidance from industry experts, and insights from one of the country’s most experienced manufacturing networks. Importantly, these startups will also have access to Maruti Suzuki’s infrastructure, which will serve as a test environment to validate and improve the relevance and durability of their solutions.

The announcement was made in New Delhi in the presence of senior officials from both organisations. Maruti Suzuki’s leadership pointed to the importance of this partnership in aligning with government initiatives like ‘Make in India’ and ‘Startup India’. According to the company, the aim is to bring promising new ideas into the practical sphere of manufacturing and automotive mobility by helping startups scale responsibly. DPIIT, for its part, acknowledged Maruti Suzuki’s legacy of scale and industry insight as being crucial to building a bridge between early-stage innovation and full-scale production capability.

By offering startups exposure to manufacturing environments and market conditions early in their development phase, the partnership hopes to reduce gaps between concept and commercialisation. The initiative also includes connections to external support networks such as incubators, accelerators and investors, helping startups access funding and expand their reach.
