MG Group has marked a strategic transformation in its operations by launching the TIGRA super-premium coach alongside unveiling a completely new corporate and brand identity. The centrepiece of the launch was TIGRA, a new intercity coach designed and built at the company’s Belagavi facility. Positioned as a high-end offering for both domestic and international markets, TIGRA features premium-grade interiors, a strong emphasis on safety, and a distinctive visual design that includes full-length Daytime Running Lights and heartbeat-style signature lighting. Built to fit all available 13.5-metre coach chassis, the coach incorporates ABS-moulded interiors, ambient lighting, and high-quality seat upholstery, aligning with modern expectations of comfort and durability for long-distance travel.

The launch signifies a departure from the behind-the-scenes role MG has typically played as a supplier to larger OEMs. With this, MG intends to claim direct recognition in the public transport segment, underlining its technical capability and premium aspirations.

The corporate identity overhaul comes at a time when the company completes ten years since entering the premium coach segment. The new logo, based on the fluid transition from M to G within a hexagonal metal bolt-inspired shape, represents a seamless product journey from design to delivery. The new identity, backed by visual and messaging updates, aims to align with MG’s broader ambition to be seen as a front-facing, innovation-led manufacturer rather than a support player in the supply chain.

Anil Mohan Kamat, Chairman and Managing Director, MG Group, asserted that MG is ready to lead with its own product-led roadmap, stepping into the spotlight with solutions such as TIGRA. The message echoed across the leadership, with COO Gireesha Prabhu describing this as not just a new identity but the start of a more visible, global, and human-centric phase for MG.

The company’s Belagavi facility, which has received fresh investments in tooling and quality systems, will produce TIGRA at scale. MG has already delivered over 125,000 bus bodies for various sectors, including schools, defence, and ambulances. Its vertically integrated operations support full-cycle manufacturing, from prototyping and digital design to interiors and electricals. This base is expected to support TIGRA’s rollout and future expansions.
