Montra Electric–Magenta Deal Signals Push For Cleaner Logistics

Montra Electric, through its small commercial vehicle arm Tivolt Electric, has announced a partnership with EV logistics company Magenta Mobility to deploy 100 units of its Eviator E350L electric trucks. The strategic memorandum of understanding is positioned as a step forward in promoting sustainable commercial transportation, with direct applications in FMCG, grocery, telecom and e-commerce logistics.

The Eviator E350L is among the few vehicles in the electric 3.5-tonne small commercial vehicle category currently being offered in India. It is targeted at operators seeking to reduce running costs while complying with tightening emission norms, particularly in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities where electric freight is gaining policy support.

Eviator offers a software-defined vehicle platform with embedded telematics, which Montra claims will allow fleet operators to optimise vehicle health, performance and energy usage in real time. These advanced digital capabilities will be backed by consistent support and infrastructure, especially for Magenta Mobility, which operates across multiple logistics verticals and frequently services intercity routes. With current fast-charging availability for electric SCVs still sparse along national and state highways, this segment may continue to rely on depot charging for now.

Magenta Mobility’s decision to incorporate the Eviator E350L into its fleet signals growing confidence in the viability of electric SCVs. Both parties will need to work together on service uptime, driver support and backend diagnostics to ensure the vehicles deliver long-term savings rather than short-term disruptions.
