Indofast Energy, the joint venture between Indian Oil Corporation and SUN Mobility, has entered into a strategic partnership with Motovolt Mobility for the MVS7 battery-swapping enabled electric scooter, designed for both personal and commercial use. Central to this initiative is the integration of Indofast’s battery-swapping infrastructure with Motovolt’s newly launched MVS7 electric scooter. The scooter operates under a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, allowing users to access battery power without bearing the cost of battery ownership.
This approach reduces the upfront cost of EV purchase and addresses range anxiety by enabling fast battery replacement through the QIS network developed by Indofast. The MVS7 is positioned as a utility e-scooter suitable for both commuting and delivery applications. It is powered by a 2.5kW BLDC motor producing 120 Nm of torque and reaches a top speed of 50 kmph. The vehicle can cover between 80 to 85 kilometres on a single charge, depending on the riding mode. With five selectable ride modes including Eco, Power, Sport, Cruise, and Reverse, the scooter aims to offer flexibility for varied urban conditions. Built on a double-cradle steel frame, the scooter provides 150 litres of storage and a payload capacity of 150 kg.

Rajat Malhan, Senior Vice President, Indofast, emphasised the operational efficiency enabled by battery swapping, describing it as a “paradigm shift” for electric transport. Tushar Choudhary, Founder and CEO, Motovolt, underlined the scooter’s focus on utility and reliability, noting that the partnership will also support wider dealership expansion and aftersales confidence through a lifetime battery warranty.
In terms of business objectives, the partners plan to sell around 25,000 MVS7 units over the next year, 20,000 for B2B fleet operations and 5,000 for private use.
