NueGo from GreenCell Mobility has become the first in its segment to equip its entire fleet with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), setting a new safety benchmark for public transport in India. As of April 2025, all 275 of NueGo’s electric buses operating across the country have been fitted with ADAS technology, ahead of any government mandate.
Since its inception in 2022, NueGo has integrated ADAS into its buses from day one, positioning itself as a safety-first brand within the Indian transport sector. The system uses a combination of cameras, sensors and radar to assist drivers with real-time alerts and corrective inputs. Features such as lane departure warning, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking and driver drowsiness detection are standard across the fleet. While such systems are increasingly common in passenger cars, their adoption in heavy commercial vehicles, especially buses, remains limited.
The company has introduced a series of complementary measures to support its guest-first approach. These include mandatory breath analyser tests for drivers before each journey, dedicated “PINK” seats to ensure that women passengers are seated next to other women, and an AI-based driver monitoring system that tracks driving behaviour in real time. GPS tracking and high-definition CCTV surveillance are also in place to improve transparency and allow swift intervention in case of any incident.
Additionally, NueGo runs a 24/7 command and control centre which monitors journeys live and coordinates with field teams to ensure immediate responses when needed. A dedicated toll-free helpline (1800 267 3366) has also been set up for women passengers, reinforcing the company’s claim of offering safer and more inclusive travel. NueGo’s decision to combine digital technologies with behavioural checks signals a more holistic understanding of travel safety that goes beyond equipment specifications.
