A little over two weeks since its launch in the Indian market, the Ola Electric S1 electric scooter has received over 10,000 bookings, Bhavish Aggarwal, CEO & Founder, Ola Electric said in a tweet.

“10,000 Ola S1 sold today already. Truly democratising access to EVs! Thank you for the love again! Just getting started,” read Aggarwal's tweet.

At the launch on August 15, 2022, Aggarwal had said that the aim of introducing Ola S1 electric scooter was to take electric mobility to the masses. The start-up is currently retailing the S1 electric scooter at an introductory price of INR 99,999.

Meanwhile, the sales of Ola Electric S1 Pro, the company's existing electric scooter, have been decreasing on a month-on-month (MoM) basis. Numbers sourced from the Vahan portal point out that the start-up had sold the maximum number of Ola S1 Pro scooters in April this year (12,703).

The following months have been a ride down south for the company. While May 2022 registered sales of 9,255 units, June and July accounted for 5,883 and 3,853 units respectively. August registered sales of around 3,400 units of the S1 Pro.

Notably, the company's social media platforms are flooded with complaints from various media handles.

At the launch of the S1, Aggarwal had also announced the timeline for the launch of Ola's first electric car in the Indian market. He had also shared plans for manufacturing lithium-ion cells in India.
