The Delhi cyber crime police team has arrested about 20 people for duping over 1,000 individuals in the Ola Scooter Scam. The masterminds of the scam had created a fake Ola Electric website and were using the same to dupe people. 

People evincing interest in buying the Ola scooters were called and asked to pay the money online. Further, those willing to get the scooter financed were asked to pay a down payment ranging from INR 30,000 to INR 70,000, depending on the electric scooter model. 

To those willing to purchase the scooters without availing of the loan, the fraudsters created a facility to transfer the whole amount online. Delhi's police team registered the first complaint on October 7, and has followed up on the same since then.

The individuals were arrested from Bengaluru, Gurugram and Patna, and the arrests can continue as more details get unearthed, with the investigation getting deepened by the day.
