Warren Buffett-backed BYD India has rolled its e6 in association with Orix Auto Infrastructure Services across five cities, including Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.

Interestingly, the premium car rental service provider for multi-national companies has signed the largest order for electric vehicle fleet operation with the EV maker.

Sandeep Gambhir, CEO and Managing Director, ORIX India, said, “With BYD All-New e6, we are excited to commence our electric vehicle fleet operation with our shared value of sustainable development.

He noted that the move complements the company’s initiative “ELECTRIX”, covering a large spectrum of the EV ecosystem and putting it at the forefront of owning, operating and leasing electric cars.

Shrirang Joshi, National Sales Head- Electric Passenger Vehicles Business, BYD India, said, “BYD India aims to associate with like-minded organisations focusing on fleet electrification across the country.”

Launched back in November 2021 exclusively for the B2B segment, the e6 features a 71.7 kWh Blade Battery technology. The company claims that the battery pack increases space utilisation by 50% compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate block batteries.

The vehicle comes with a claimed range of 415km on a single charge and a top speed of 130kmph. The vehicle also recently entered the India Book of Records for the maximum distance covered by an electric car.
