Piaggio Vehicles has launched two new electric three-wheelers in India under its Ape Electrik range, Ape E-City Ultra and Ape E-City FX Maxx. These models aim to strengthen the company’s hold in the urban mobility segment. Piaggio is shifting its focus towards building more robust, long-range electric vehicles suited to India’s demanding road and operating conditions.

The Ape E-City Ultra is the more powerful of the two, offering a certified range of 236 km and a peak power output of 9.55 kW. It features a high-capacity 10.2 kWh LFP battery paired with a 3 kW charger to reduce downtime. With a torque output of 45 Nm and a top speed of 55 kmph, the Ultra is designed to handle heavy-duty urban transport. Its build includes a full-metal body and intelligent features such as climb assist, geo-fencing, and remote immobilisation via 4G telematics. It also comes with a five-year or 2.25 lakh km warranty and is priced at INR 3,88,000 ex-showroom.

The Ape E-City FX Maxx, while slightly more affordable at INR 3,30,000 ex-showroom, is no less capable. It delivers a certified range of 174 km and a torque of 30 Nm with a peak motor power of 7.4 kW. Built for steady daily operations, it uses prismatic cell technology to limit battery degradation and offers real-time energy monitoring to ensure consistent performance. The FX Maxx also carries a five-year or 2.25 lakh km warranty and features a smart digital dashboard to track battery health and performance.
