Rama Shankar Pandey Joins Tata AutoComp GY Batteries As CEO

The former Managing Director of Hella India Lighting is largely credited to have turned around the German company’s loss making India entity.

Rama Shankar Pandey has taken over as the new Chief Executive Officer of Tata AutoComp GY Batteries (Tata GSYUASA). Pandey, who headed Hella India Lighting for over 16 years as its Managing Director, is credited to have completely turned around the light maker into a profitable venture. 

One of India’s most prominent road safety champions, Pandey will also be responsible for the Pune-based group’s independent aftermarket business.

Tata AutoComp GY Batteries is a joint venture between Tata AutoComp Systems and GS Yuasa International of Japan. The JV makes batteries under the Tata Green Batteries brand name, which the company claims has a low top-up requirement and “being 90% recyclable, they allow a hassle-free battery running experience”.

Pandey is the EC Member & Chairman of the Aftermarket committee at the Auto Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA). He also serves as a Governing Council member at ASDC – Automotive Skill Development Council, and Chairman of the Road Safety Sub Committee at FICCI. He is an alumnus of NIT Calicut, ICFAI Hyderabad and IIM Bangalore.
