Range Rover has unveiled a visually dramatic addition to its flagship SV line-up, the SV Black. The vehicle will debut at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed and will be available for order later in the year. This new variant is positioned alongside the existing SV Serenity and SV Intrepid models and introduces an updated interpretation of Range Rover’s hallmark craftsmanship.

The SV Black extends Range Rover’s philosophy of understated luxury by adopting a comprehensive black-on-black treatment, described by the brand as appearing ‘dipped in gloss’. The exterior is finished in Narvik Gloss Black, with polished detailing on the grille, 23-inch alloy wheels, and brake callipers following the same tone. The effect is deliberate and subdued, aiming for a refined visual language rather than overt aggression. Inside, the same restraint continues with Ebony Near-Aniline leather seats, black birch veneers and satin ceramic accents, delivering tactile richness without visual excess.

The SV Black introduces new technologies that push Range Rover’s interior experience into an experimental domain. The car comes equipped with what it calls a “Sensory Floor”, developed alongside its already established Body-and-Soul-Seat system. Using transducers embedded into the front and rear floor mats, this feature translates music and wellness programmes into low-frequency vibrations. Passengers are encouraged to remove their footwear to better experience the haptic feedback, which complements the Meridian Signature Surround Sound system. The system also supports six distinct wellness modes designed to aid relaxation, focus, or mood elevation. The Sensory Floor is fitted as standard on all long-wheelbase SV models.

The SUV is powered by a 607 bhp V8 engine, offered in both standard and long-wheelbase configurations with either four- or five-seat layouts. Range Rover has also confirmed the inclusion of new industry-first Pirelli P Zero tyres, constructed with over 70 per cent sustainable materials. These tyres, developed with bio-based oils and FSC-certified rubber, represent another step in the company’s ongoing efforts to balance performance with environmental accountability.
