Renault has unveiled the new C-segment SUV Boreal developed specifically for markets outside Europe, as part of its expanding global strategy. The model will be built in Brazil and Turkey and positioned as a premium offering with a strong emphasis on design, space, and advanced onboard technology. The Boreal is expected to play a central role in the brand’s aim to strengthen its non-European presence and shift from volume sales to higher-value offerings.

The SUV is the fourth launch under Renault’s International Gameplan, a €3 billion initiative to introduce eight new vehicles by 2027 across strategic hubs including Latin America, India, Turkey, and North Africa. The Boreal sits alongside models like the Kardian and Koleos and will primarily target regions with growing demand for mid-sized family SUVs. In Latin America, Turkey, and parts of the Middle East, it will address gaps in Renault's C-segment portfolio and attempt to offer a premium yet accessible ownership experience.

The Boreal is built on Renault’s latest modular platform, which is designed to support various dimensions and technologies for different markets. This flexibility has allowed the brand to develop a vehicle that can integrate local design preferences, technical specifications, and regulatory needs. At 4.56 metres long with a 2.7-metre wheelbase, the Boreal promises a generous cabin and 586 litres of boot space, aimed at families and long-distance users.

In terms of styling, it adopts Renault’s updated visual identity with flowing surfaces, taut lines, and a new front lighting signature inspired by the Niagara concept. The exterior features a panoramic sunroof, 19-inch alloy wheels, roof bars and aluminium skid plates. The interior continues the upmarket tone, offering a dual-screen dashboard setup with integrated Google services, a Harman Kardon sound system, customisable lighting in 48 colours, and a wide range of connected features including remote updates and smart maintenance tracking.

Up to 24 advanced driver assistance systems are available depending on variant and region. Features include lane keeping assist, blind spot warning, adaptive cruise control, and hands-free parking. Level 2 driving automation is also offered, which combines cruise control with lane centring to ease stop-and-go traffic. These systems align with Renault’s goal of offering premium-level safety packages in emerging markets.

The Boreal will launch with a 1.3-litre turbocharged engine offering up to 162 bhp in Flex Fuel versions for Latin America and 136 bhp in petrol for Turkey. The engine is paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, tuned to local conditions and capable of delivering quick acceleration and reduced fuel consumption. Renault is also exploring additional powertrain options for other regions based on market requirements.
