Renault India has announced its upgraded Kwid, Triber and Kiger to meet the new BS6 Step 2 emission norms. A press release from Renault India noted that with the implementation of the second step of BS6, all Renault cars will be equipped with a self-diagnostic device. The device will constantly monitor the vehicle’s emission levels while driving and other critical emission devices, such as the catalytic converter and oxygen sensors.

Under the new portfolio, the Kwid now sees the addition of RXE for the 1.0L powertrain in the MT version, priced at INR 4.69 lakh, ex-showroom, India. With this, the earlier entry-level 800cc engine option for the Kwid gets phased out.

In addition to these changes, the entire range also gets added safety features, including electronic stability programme, hill start assist, traction control system and tyre pressure monitoring system as standard features.

The Triber also gets chrome finish exterior door handles and the new seat upholstery on the 2023 range.

Venkatram Mamillapalle, Country CEO and Managing Director, Renault India Operations, said, “Renault India remains committed to the Government of India’s vision for clean and green environment. The launch of new BS6 Step 2 compliant petrol engines across the range will ensure substantial reduction in emissions, thus contributing to a safer and cleaner environment.”
