Renesas Electronics Corporation, a global leader in advanced semiconductor solutions, has strengthened its presence in India by signing two strategic MOUs with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology’s (MeitY) Chips to Startup (C2S) programme.
Under the new MOUs, Renesas will provide startups with development boards and Altium’s industry-leading PCB design software to boost product development capabilities. For academic institutions, it will offer PCB design training, development tools, and cloud-based platforms to foster hands-on learning and build a pipeline of industry-ready engineers.
Coinciding with this development, Renesas inaugurated its newly expanded offices in Bengaluru and Noida, signalling a significant expansion of its Indian R&D footprint. The Bengaluru office, now Renesas’ largest site in India, will house over 500 professionals spanning R&D, business operations, and teams from recently acquired firms such as Altium and Part Analytics. Meanwhile, the Noida facility is geared to support Renesas’ automotive SoC development, with a focus on high-performance compute platforms and greater integration with global teams.
During the Noida inauguration, attended by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Renesas executives, the company reaffirmed its ambition to generate over 10% of its global revenue from India by 2030. It also reiterated its plans to scale up to 1,000 employees in India by the end of 2025.
These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to catalyse India’s semiconductor ecosystem by strengthening local design, innovation, and manufacturing capabilities. With over 250 academic institutions and 15 startups under the C2S umbrella, Renesas’ engagement aims to drive a deeper culture of self-reliance and high-tech collaboration across the country.
