The country’s newest EV maker, Ola Electric, has started accepting reservations for its soon-to-be-launched Ola scooter for a refundable deposit of INR 499 on the company’s website, olaelectric.com.

Those who reserve now will get priority delivery, announced the company. The company has promised an aggressive pricing of its scooter to ensure its wider acceptability.

Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman & Group CEO, Ola said in a statement that the country’s EV revolution begins today with the start of bookings for the company’s first EV product. The scooter, once launched, will help accelerate the transition to sustainable mobility. “India has the opportunity and potential to become the world leader in EVs and at Ola, we are proud to lead this charge,” he said.

The scooter will roll out of the company’s Futurefactory, the world’s largest two-wheeler factory being built on a 500-acre site in Tamil Nadu. The first phase with an annual capacity of two million units is scheduled to be operationalised soon. By the next year, Ola Electric is looking at achieving full capacity of 10 million units annually.

Ola Electric claims its scooter delivers class leading speed, range and boot space. The scooter has, in fact, already won several a few awards for innovation and design.
