Royal Enfield has reopened bookings for the Scram 440 after halting them for over a month due to a technical issue. While the manufacturer is yet to issue an official statement, dealers across India have confirmed that orders for the motorcycle are being accepted again.
The temporary booking pause was announced in the first week of May 2025 after a small number of users reported trouble starting the bike following prolonged usage. The issue stemmed from a faulty component but did not pose any safety risks—there were no reports of stalling, and only 2 per cent of delivered units were affected. These motorcycles were recalled and serviced.
Now, the Scram 440 is back on the order list, though waiting periods vary depending on the colour and variant—ranging from 10 days to over a month.
Powering the Scram 440 is a 443cc air-/oil-cooled engine that develops 25.4bhp at 6,250rpm and 34Nm at 4,000rpm, paired with a six-speed gearbox. The motorcycle features a 19-17-inch wheel setup, available in alloy or spoke options depending on the variant. Other highlights include dual-disc brakes with switchable dual-channel ABS, a kerb weight of 196kg, 15-litre fuel tank, and a seat height of 795mm.
